US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, among others, are also present. Trump’s car, The Beast was ready and surrounded by US Secret Service personnel to whisk them away to Sabarmati Ashram.
US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were welcomed with garlands at Mahatma Gandhi’s Sabarmati Ashram following which PM Modi gave them a tour of the place. He showed them ‘Hriday Kunj’, a room inside the Ashram where Gandhiji and his wife Kasturba lived during India’s freedom struggle. He further explained the importance of this place during the period. PM Modi also presented “Three Wise Monkeys,” a larger version of one belonging to Mahatma Gandhi, as a memento to the US president.
Travelled 8000 km to say America loves India, says US President Donald Trump as he began speaking at the Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad. “The First Lady and I have traveled 8000kms to say that America loves India and we respect India. It is a profound honor to be in Motera in this beautiful stadium. Thank you for your spectacular welcome. Melania and my family will remember this forever,” Trump said. Addressing the crowd at the Motera stadium in Ahmedabad for the “Namaste Trump” event, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed US President Donald Trump for deepening the India-US ties significantly and said that the visit was reflective of a new chapter in bilateral ties of the two countries.
The US President’s visit to Agra and Taj had generated huge excitement among local residents. Some shops had even displayed their own banners, welcoming Trump to India. On his arrival at the Kheria airbase, over 250 artistes drawn from different parts of Uttar Pradesh performed ‘Mayur dance’, ‘Rai folk dance’, Dhobia folk dance’, ‘bamrasia’ dance as sonorous sounds of nagada, dholak, and mridang added to the festive ambiance.
Trump and the First Lady spent about an hour at Taj to catch the sunset from the UNESCO heritage site. Advisor and daughter of United States President Donald Trump, Ivanka Trump spent some quality time with her husband Jared Kushner. Ivanka was so mesmerised with the Taj Mahal that she had some photoshoot with her husband, she even gave her personal smartphone to take her solo photograph.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath presented a large portrait of ‘Taj Mahal’ to US President Donald Trump & First Lady Melania Trump, as they departed for Delhi. The last US president to visit the Mughal-era wonder was Bill Clinton who had come to India in 2000. He had seen the Taj along with daughter Chelsea Clinton.
Amid heavy security in the national capital on account of his visit, US President Donald Trump landed in New Delhi. The Trumps will be hosted by ITC Maurya.
Trump will be accorded a ceremonial welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhavan tomorrow morning. Trump will also pay tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat. Modi and Trump will later hold restricted and delegation-level talks at the Hyderabad House.
